Hannah Romanza
Romanowsky

TURKISH ROMAN WORKSHOP
(Dances of the gypsies from Turkey, who prefer to be called by their more proper
designation, Roma)

Turkish Roman dance is characterized by dramatic shifts in
mood and quality, saucy gestures, and complex pelvic
isolations.   Known for her exuberant and passionate approach
to this style, Hannah will present basic technique and gestures
appropriate for the karsilama 9/8 rhythm and introduce some
theatrical elements, including knee spins and other floor-work.
(We will save floor-work for the end of class.  Please bring full
skirts and knee pads.

Hannah Romanza Romanowsky draws her
aesthetic impulse from many years of study in both Eastern and Western classical dance

performance ensemble presenting dance, music and poetry of the historic Silk Road, and
has performed for museums and cultural festivals in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
